Traveling Is a Verb

Traveling in New Zealand

In the middle of 2015, tired of a life of certainty and feeling weighted down by all of our stuff, we sold our house in Palo Alto, our cars, put our art collection and a few other things that meant something to us in storage, gave the rest to charity, and hit the road. You can read more about that in Our Story.

We are two ordinary people who, because of the way we travel, have had some extraordinary experiences. We have learned that traveling is not about the sights, but about the experiences you have. What we write about is those experiences, especially the ones we’ve had exploring the white space between the lines of an itinerary. Our latest post from California is about what it was like to return back to the United States after 15 months, right before, and then during, the Presidential election.

We invite you to share our experiences with us. You can be notified of new posts by entering your email address in the FOLLOW OUR TRAVELS section in the sidebar and clicking “NOTIFY ME.”

On our Facebook page, Traveling Is a Verb, we’ll be posting up to date information on where we are and where we are traveling to. Our goal is not to create yet-another-travelogue (there are plenty of good ones out there). As we have traveled we have come across some places that are so spectacular that they made the trip worthwhile. We’ll be posting photos of some of those places on Traveling Is a Verb on Instagram.

You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram by selecting either or both icons in the FOLLOW US section at the top of the sidebar.

You can see where we are, and have been, on the map. A blue pin on the map shows you where we are now, or if we are traveling, where our next stop will be. If you tap on the blue pin, you’ll be able to read our posts in chronological order.

The green pins mark the places we have visited, and you can click on one to read the posts from that country. The red pin is where we are going next. As of now, we will be going to Tasmania and then the rest of Australia.

If it’s your first time visiting our website you can also view our posts from the beginning of our trip by selecting “From the Beginning” from the Postcards From the Road menu.
